Welcome Back Week

The Retreat at Illinois Holds Welcome Back Week as Students Return for Spring Semester

To say that we are excited to have everyone back would be a tremendous understatement. We would shout it from the rooftops if we could. However, our private balconies will have to do for now. We’re so excited to have everyone returning to campus, that we hosted an entire week of welcome back events for our residents this month.

The Retreat at Illinois team started the week with the brown bag breakfast bar. They say that breakfast in the most important meal of the day so we knew this event needed to come first so that residents had a solid start to their first day back to class on Monday. On Tuesday, we passed out COVID safety to those that wanted them. Our kits consisted of travel sanitizer refillable bottle, a reusable cloth mask, and a multifunctional no touch tool complete with a bottle opener! The no touch tools have been a favorite amongst us here in the office. On Wednesday, our resident cooking expert, Cassidy, taught a virtual cooking class and we delivered all the necessary ingredients to the door of each apartment that signed up. We’re basically the hottest thing since Hello Fresh. Blue Apron who? On Thursday we held a book exchange in our office. This take a book, leave a book was the perfect no contact event for those that are remaining socially distant during this time. For those that were willing to get together and still maintain proper distancing per our current guidelines here in Illinois, we have a murder mystery game night to cap off the week. Each team helped us solve the mystery of who killed Harmony Ashcroft back in 1998. We are happy to report two teams were able to successful crack this cold case!

When we’re not welcoming students back to campus, we still hold events for our residents once a week. Make sure you follow us on our social accounts to keep up to date will all we have going on here at The Retreat at Illinois!
